"Sound Exchange"

It was especially exciting for me to work with Sound Exchange in developing a new look for their VIP Reception event celebrating iconic music legend Dr. Richard Burgess.

The challenge here was working with minimal photography and maintaining the Sound Exchange look and feel while getting adventurous and thematic with styling. These designs would also be printed and showcased around an event, so we wanted to make sure that they were easy to read and eyecatching.

The final look would involve long pull-up banners, as well as some fun menus for the event’s creative signature drinks.

To find the right vibe for these designs, we put together a moodboard named VELVET FEEDBACK, inspired by gorgeous 1980s music and film, bright splashes of red colour, and bold, vivid typography.

This was thinking outside the typical Sound Exchange colour scheme — but the goal was to go all out to begin, and then pare back where needed.

To try to solve the problem of low-quality minimal imagery, we used ChatGPT to produce some stylised headshots for Dr. Burgess.

Using this inspiration, I produced two versions with different looks that you can see below.

THE FINAL

With the favoured look chosen, we implemented some design requests and changes, namely adjusting the colour scheme to match closely with the Sound Exchange palette, and swapping out some imagery.

OTHER WORK

External facing postcards — we wanted vintage, retro postcard looks for this.
